Transition Bikes | Oaxaca Bike Expeditions
January 16, 2023

Last spring a few of our employees and our Mexican distributor, Bike Logistics, met up for a one of a kind Mexican mountain bike adventure with Oaxaca Bike Expeditions (OBE). OBE has spent many hours immersed in the surrounding community, so our experience was curated to highlight the unique riding, but also food and art in Oaxaca. Follow along as our crew experiences Oaxaca, Mexico!

While most people recognize Oaxaca Mexico for its mole, and cuisine in general, its shuttle accessed mountain biking is quickly growing. The south eastern Mexican city is home to some humbly rolling hills that hide some of the most technical trails in the Americas. Topping out in the mountains puts a rider ~5,000 ft above the valley floor in a forest, not so distant to what we are used to in the Pacific Northwest. Shorter top laps takes up the majority of the day before getting a mind melting descent back down to the foothill villages for food and refreshments.

With a handful of industry folks heading south of the boarder, we took this as an opportunity to see what the hype was about. And, with out a question, Oaxaca lived up to everything we were told. Above all, what really stood out for us, was the community making the whole mountain bike scene happen. Just as a budding plant scrounges for nutrients, light and space to grow, it seems as if emerging riding communities are doing the same. Those smaller communities are so intertwined because of the connections they are making to create a space for growth.

Thanks for an amazing trip Oaxaca Bike Expeditions and Bike Logistics!
